The recent fuel price hike in India has generated furore from all quarters particularly from (and justifiably)less aware people and (definitely not justified) from Hypocrites (like BJP and Left parties). I just want ask them one simple question. Are we living in Saudi Arabia or Venezuela? Just have a look at International crude oil prices and compare oil prices from other countries, you will take a big sigh of relief that you were protected from Government supported Buffer.
But this buffer has bled the Navratna oil companies like HPCL and IOL to such an extent that they are unlikely to recover from that. This fuel hike was just 10% of the hike that was required to bring prices on International Level. This buffer has also eroded the important source of revenue to the government, resulting in fiscal problem of Government and country at large. The government is getting it difficult to gather fund for important schemes like Loan Waiver for farmers, NREGA, Bharat Nirman etc. Rich and well to do are enjoying the benefits of this buffer (like racing at night and misusing of Domestic LPG for Automobiles & commercial Purposes). If this country wants to be a developed and strong nation, this buffer should be abolished out rightly and rationing of fuels for poor should be introduced. Of course corruption in PDS (Public Distribution System) should be targeted first.
Less is said about non-sense politics over this hike, better it is. BJP termed it economic terrorism while Left is planning nation wide strike for the whole week. I am sure BJP would have been more brutal had it been in the government. While Left’s kids should understand that their strikes and Bandhs are hurting more the proletariat poor (particularly Daily wage earners) and this Government is doing its best to protect common people from effects of International Crude Oil Prices. I pray God that common man should learn common sense now.
